When Sam was found as a stray a little over a year ago by a Good Samaritan, he weighed only 14 pounds and had broken ribs. She would have kept him, but she has a rescue puppy from Hurricane Katrina who hates Sam. His Good Samaritan did not feel it was fair to keep Sam in that situation and knew it would be hard to find a home the other dog. So, MAESSR was contacted to find him a new loving family. Sam arrived in foster care with all kinds of toys and treats and even a crate; it was obvious that his surrendering mom had loved him very much.
Sam is a very sweet, shy little black and white guy with a full tail weighing only 28 pounds. Housetrained, he has had no accidents once he learned to use the doggie door in his foster home. Although he takes awhile to warm up to strangers and is rather fearful of men, but has become typical velcro Springer with his foster mom.
There are two resident Springers in his foster home and he is getting along with both. The female Springer is a typical alpha dog who wants to be the boss of everything, but Sam has been able to acquiesce to her hierarchical demands. Actually, she and Sam share a dual leash when the three dogs go out on walks. He walks very well on the leash and comes when called. When it is time to go for a ride in the car, Sam is an excellent passenger sitting quietly in the back seat.
Little Sam is going to make a fine addition to some lucky family. He’s come a long way from Texas to find a home. Open yours to him!
