Original: Sally was found by a good Samaritan in an extremely rural part of Virginia. This person went out one morning to see what her dogs were barking at, and she found a scared Springer had made its way onto the property to seek shelter in an old doghouse. This was Sally. She was extremely spooked, tired, and hungry, appearing malnourished and covered with ticks. Slowly, she warmed to her rescuer and would finally come out of the doghouse to take a treat from her hand. Through her rescuer, Sally came to MAESSR.
Although she is still shy, Sally indicates that she wants to play. She’ll run around with a tennis ball or an old shoe in her mouth. Then, when the other dogs in her foster home make eye contact with her, she turns her head. Sally is still a bit hesitant, and somewhat spooked – but shows no signs of aggression. She just wants to love and be loved.
When she first came to MAESSR, Sally’s foster mom believes that this neglected Springer girl had never been in a home or that anyone had paid any positive attention to her. It was about four days before Sally would willingly come inside her foster home; however, now you cannot get her out! Sally had many rotten teeth removed when she first came into foster care and since her dental work, she is feeling much better! Sally has quickly learned many of the behaviors that make this breed so special. A curious pup, she will pull things off of tables and counters just to see what they are! Due to her rough start in life, Sally does not know any commands so an obedience class would really help build her confidence level.
Housetraining is coming along well for her with only a couple of accidents in her foster home. She is learning to walk on a leash and likes to ride in the car. Sally is just looking for a family that will love her and show her all the wonders of the world of inside living. Do you have room in your world for this extremely sweet girl?
