This Southern Belle just moved to the Mid-Atlantic area from North Carolina. Sally was purchased for the daughter. She just had to have a puppy. That was last year. Sally is now sixteen-months-old and no longer a puppy. All of the promises to care for Sally are now broken. The dad works long hours and the mom does not want a dog, poor neglected Sally. Sally is cared for, just no one to play with her.
It is unsure if Sally is housebroken. She is kept in the garage and the back door is left open for her to get outside. She does not mess in the garage. She will probably just need to be taught to go on a schedule and to ask to go outside. She is not crate-trained. Sally likes to chew the plastic gutter pipes and has dug a couple of holes out of boredom. Sally loves to go for rides in the car. She is allowed to ride in the back seat and does not move around.
Sally has had no formal obedience class, but knows sit, stay, and down. Sally will retrieve her leash when it is time for her walk. Sally loves to play with her tennis ball but does not like to bring it back. Sally is very submissive to other dogs and is good with cats. She currently lives with a sixteen-year-old cat that basically ignores her attempts at play.
Sally is starved for love and attention. She is waiting for the right family to sweep her off of her paws!
Update: 10/22/2002
Sally, now Ella, is a very happy, if not a bit chunkier, little girl who is the definite baby of the family. She and her older and much bigger sister Georgia spend their day chasing squirrels, birds, and even wild turkeys in their backyard in rural Maryland. Ella is a fearless little thing, but with a mouth and mind of her own. Her parents just adore her and can’t remember life before waking up to her morning “talks”.
