Original: “A bit of a cuddle bunny, Sallie will go upside down for pets and belly rubs.”
When Sallie’s owner’s health declined, her busy family had to juggle getting home to walk her during the day. A retired show dog, she’d been with her Maryland family for three or four years. MAESSR was contacted about finding her a good home, and she arrived at a warm and happy foster spot.
Sallie’s only health issue is some hair loss issues on her rump; she is undergoing thyroid testing and receiving grain dog food(in case the loss is allergy related). She’s a good weight for her size, totally gentle and fine with other dogs. She doesn’t really play with her housemates, but when the extra foster terrier flops down right next to her on her bed, she doesn’t mind his company. She is crate trained but is rarely crated as she’s completely housetrained and sleeps quietly all night. Sallie doesn’t really have a signal to go out, but circles a bit. Since she is allowed out a few times a day, her “signal” has not even been really noticed.
Despite being a “mature gal,” Sallie likes leash walks and is good about not pulling. No counter-surfing, trash diving or any other bad habits for this love. She does eat meals quickly and is separated at meal times because the resident dogs are not quick eaters. One of her interesting habits is that she definitely has down the Springer “whoo-hoo” noise and shows her foster folks how it’s done right before every meal.
A bit of a cuddle bunny, Sallie will go upside down for pets and belly rubs. Her big paw will come up to gently nudge the humans if they stop, but she’s not insistent about it. She’s low energy but seems mostly without aches and pains. She likes car rides, resting her head on the center console and watching the world go past. She’s definitely has no separation issues.
This beautiful gal would blossom with the right care and make someone a wonderful companion. MAESSR seniors are the absolute best—finest kind!! Wouldn’t you like to have this gentle gal under your Christmas tree?
