Update 12/19/07: Sadie has settled into a second foster home for the holidays. Her new family is finding her to be a sweet and gentle little girl. The family includes a 5-year-old and Sadie is excellent with this little one and with other children this age. She also shares the home with a neutered male dog that she loves and a cat that she is very good with. When the family is ready to leave home, Sadie is too. She loves car rides and is a perfect passenger.
This young lady is working very hard on her house training and is great with her crating. Sadie is doing great with walking on a leash and knows basic commands. She lays down whenever asked. Further obedience classes would make her even a better mannered dog. Sadie’s future is bright and her family feels she would be a great prospect for the sport of dog agility. She is a real snuggler too.
Sadie will be happiest in a forever home with a fenced yard, other dogs, and children. This gal will steal your heart and complete your family. She’s ready to begin the New Year with a new last name. Are you ready to give her yours?
Original: This wonderful 8-month-old girl came to MAESSR because her previous family did not have the appropriate amount of time to spend with her. Sadie was kept in a crate 23 out of 24 hours. Now, Sadie is really enjoying the fenced yard and the other Springer playmates in her foster home. She plays so hard during the day that she just passes out at night.
Sadie has lived with children as young as three. She does well with them, but will jump on them so she would be best with children over 10. She is mostly housetrained. When she came into foster care, Sadie had an UTI for which she was treated, so there were little accidents. She is crate trained and walks reasonably well on a leash. She loves to ride in the car and sleeps on a doggy bed beside her foster parents’ bed at night. She doesn’t chew or have any submissive urination. She will sniff on the counters and jump on people to greet them, but she is learning from her foster family that this is unacceptable behavior. Sadie has attended a puppy training class and knows “sit,” “down,” and “off.”
Sadie loves to swim and used to try to squeeze through the neighbor’s fence to go play in their pool. She also loves to chase ice cubes and plays with plush toys.
