When having a young active Springer became too much, Sadie’s New Jersey owners made the hard decision to give her to MAESSR to find her a new home that could meet her energy needs.
Sadie was much loved and well taken care of in her old home, and it shows. She is sweet, trusting, playful, and very loving, a real sweetheart! Her unique tri-coloring makes people turn their head to see this beautiful girl She has a gorgeous soft coat and she wags her whole back when excited and happy.
Sadie is completely housetrained and was crated in her old house but has not been crated in her foster home. She is trustworthy and has not gotten into mischief when her foster family is gone during the day. When her foster dad comes home at lunchtime and after work, Sadie is very happy to see him. At bedtime, she settles in for the night and sleeps soundly with the resident dogs until morning with no problems.
In her foster home, Sadie is living with eight other dogs of various ages and has adjusted very well to pack life. Still all puppy, she loves to play with one of her canine foster brothers, wrestling and mouthing one another’s faces. Just as she is good in her play, she is very good with people and dogs around her food bowl. In the feline front, Sadie has not met a cat as of yet but she does not seem to have a high prey drive.
Her foster family is helping Sadie learn proper Springer manners like not jumping up or chewing on people. In the leash walks she has taken with her foster family, she has been quite the puller so she can use a lot of work with improving her leash walking skills. Sadie knows the commands “sit,” “down,” and “no,” but these need some reinforcement with all the other dogs around. She is very good about riding in the car but sometimes likes to climb into the front seat to help drive!
Like most Springers, Sadie wants to be close to her humans and this Velcro Springer girl is usually not more than a few steps from her person, anticipating his every move and sometimes getting underfoot. Sadie loves children but in her youthful exuberance, she may knock little ones down trying to say hello. With training and time, this should improve. Sadie has two quirks: she does not like going out in the dark all that much and she does not like the feel of wet grass on her feet. If the grass is wet from dew or rain, Sadie jumps like she is walking over a bed of coals! Wet grass must tickle!
Since Sadie loves to play, she would do very well if her forever family has another dog who shares her enthusiasm for playtime or someone home during the day to play with her. Sadie will be a great addition to the family that has the time and dedication to training her and loving her!
