When Sadie’s owners purchased her as a puppy, they did not foresee that her high energy level would not be conducive to their busy lifestyle and townhouse living. Crated all day while they were at work and crated again to sleep at night, Sadie was not getting the exercise she needed at this critical point in her young life. Her owners realized this and decided to relinquish Sadie to MAESSR so she could get the home she deserves.
In her foster home, Sadie is getting the structure and exercise that she needs. She is doing quite well on housetraining and signals nicely when she needs to go out. As a puppy, she is being taught proper house manners although she does try to look on the counter to see what is there and does jump on people in her eagerness to say, “Hello.”
Although she has not received formal obedience training, Sadie does know “sit” “come,” “down,” and “get toys!” As a puppy younger than a year, Sadie must be taken for formal obedience training according to MAESSR regulations. Right now, she tends to pull when taken for a walk on lead, especially if she sees squirrels or rabbits! Her foster family is making sure that Sadie gets appropriate things to chew on as she is still very much a puppy.
At this time, Sadie needs to be restrained when she rides in a car since she pants and tries to get up on laps. She is totally comfortable when playing with other dogs and loves a good game of fetch with her people or tugging on a rope toy. Sadie has no fear of the water and she enjoys swimming.
This sweet puppy will give her forever family a lifetime of happiness!
