Temperament: Good – needs a quiet home.
Original: Sadie was raised by a middle age couple that do not socialize her to kids (kids under 15 yr) or other animals and had someone home all the time. At 5 yr old, they moved and passed her along to other 50ish couple with an intact 3 yr male ESS. The surrendering family is having dogs fights.
Sadie needs a quiet home without a lot of people coming and going. She would probably do best as an only dog. She is very used to a quiet home.
She can be crated away or leash from kids, other dogs, and she is fine. She loves to take naps on bed with people, loves and wants car rides, is fairly good leash-and loves walks.
Sadie is house-broken, good house manners, knows sit, down, crate. She was handled and fine with older 18 yr vet techs for boarding fine for 7 days fine. She likes to sleep by your feet during dinner and on the computer.
Sadie is now being crated all day while her foster mom works. She is not happy but deals with it well. She would do well with a working couple as well as a stay home couple, single adults are fine too. She lives for attention from “HER PEOPLE”.
Sadie loves to go on walks, car rides, she loves to be brushed. She can pass children and dogs on leash with no reaction. When children come to visit she stays crated fine.
She is very loyal. And is thoroughly enjoying the MILKBONE rubber ball that her foster mom put milkbones in when she put Sadie in crate to leave for work. Sadie hardly notices she is gone. But, definitely is GLAD when her foster mom comes home.
UPDATE:
From Sadie’s adoptive Mom:
Sadie and I made the trip from Mary’s to Arlington in good form. She sat in my lap for a couple of miles then slept most of the way. At the apartment, she checked out her new place all over, then jumped in my lap again for a few minutes, then jumped up on the sofa, stretched out—and sighed. She wanted a lot of rubbing when we got into bed, but when I turned over to go to sleep, she settled down, too. When I woke up, she was right there for another rub down. I cleaned her ears this morning—she’s such a good girl—and think she will need some antibacterial drops. I have an appointment at my vet for Saturday. I’ll clean them every day, but, if she starts scratching at them, I’ll take her in sooner. She is great. Thanks so much to Mary for taking good care of her and to Debbie for setting this match up.
