Original: Poor Sabrina. A caring veterinarian contacted our rescue when two girls were brought in after being struck by a car. Sabrina got the better of it and only has some damage to her ear. She is otherwise in great health.
At her first temporary foster home we determined that Sabrina loves children and cats. She is intrigued with cats but has not been aggressive with them at all. Even her foster mom’s “scaredy cat” came out for Sabrina.
UPDATE: From her new foster home: (She was moved simply b/c there were too many dogs at the first home.)
Sabrina is doing fine. She and Gretel are getting along quite nicely. She rests in her crate, has picked up a couple of toys and carried them around, has thoroughly sniffed out the place, and follows me everywhere. She is quickly losing more of her timidity, but clearly has a ways to go. She refuses to go outside by herself (I was out this morning in my bathrobe and slippers in the refrozen snow!); we’ll have to change that. The biggest problem is that my house is quite close to the road and she is scared of the traffic noise, especially trucks, so instead of running around inside the fence she comes and hides between my feet. I think she’ll be a great dog!
We finally determined the source of Sabrina’s skin problem — mange. She is undergoing treatment now and we should see results quickly. While in foster care, she has really started to come out of her shell. She gets along well with Gretel, the other dog in the house. Her housebreaking is improving dramatically. She is crate trained. Sabrina is a sweet lovely girl who will be available as soon as the mange has cleared up. Despite how bad mange sounds, we were pleased her skin problems were something we could treat.
