Original: “Rusty came into foster care jumping up on new people, counter-surfing, and furniture jumping, all of which are improving daily.”
When their Tennessee family was moving and could not take along their Springer brothers, Rusty and Ranger were relinquished to a rescue group who then asked MAESSR to take them into its care.
Rusty is a lively, energetic youngster who loves to run and play with Ranger who also lives in the same foster home. New toys have made a huge hit with both dogs and they are good at entertaining themselves with their new playthings. Most of all, Rusty loves being around his people. He is very affectionate and eager to please! He even went to a recent family reunion and had great interaction with the young grandchildren!
Although Rusty is housetrained and crate trained, he still needs work with manners. He came into foster care jumping up on new people, counter-surfing, and furniture jumping, all of which are improving daily. Rusty is a smart boy and he wants to please his foster parents so he is making great strides in learning how a responsible Springer should behave. When his foster family has to go out and at bedtime, Rusty is crated and is very comfortable with the arrangement.
Rusty enjoys accompanying his foster family on rides in the car and on leash walks through the neighborhood and in the park. He rides well in the car and has shown improvement with not pulling on the leash. Showing what a quick learner he is, Rusty will now sit while his person converses with people they meet on their walks. Such a smart boy! He also responds to the commands “off” and “come.” Rusty is not objective protective of his food and can be touched while eating.
Rusty’s forever home needs to be committed in continuing to teach him proper manners. Their patience and perseverance will pay off! He would love a fenced yard where he can run freely and he would be delighted to have a playful dog companion as well.
Do you need a loving Springer to be your pal and give you lots of kisses? Then, Rusty is the dog for you!
