Rudy’s owner turned him into rescue when he could no longer care for him. He is a sweet boy who attaches to the males in the home. Weighing in at 48 pounds, he is currently on the mend after the removal of some fatty lumps. Rudy was born with one front paw that is a clubfoot. It does not limit him in any way, and, he is adept at keeping up with his sisters in his foster home.
Rudy is house trained and has been left at home from 8-4 without an accident. He will scratch at the back door when he needs to go out. He is not crazy about being in a crate. He will go in, but will whine and cry, wanting to be with the people in the house.
Rudy has good house manners and knows sit, down, stay, and paw. He has been off leash and will walk well on a pinch collar. Without it, he pulls hard on the lead. Rudy sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom and will stay off the furniture. He does not jump up on new people. He was wonderful at the groomer and loves too have his back massaged and scratched.
Rudy has not shown any signs of wanting to counter surfer, nor is he a trash picker. He will fetch stuffed animals but has shown little interest in a ball.
Rudy has been gentle with a 7 year old when he visited in the house. He gets along with the two resident females and one foster female dog in his foster home. He does not show any signs of aggression. He is fine when his foster mom moves his food bowl. He has not been exposed to cats.
Rudy likes to go for car rides and is good in the car, either crated or on the seat. He also likes to go for walks and will run in the yard. When he goes to the office with his foster mom, he lays quietly at her feet and is happy to meet any new people who come in. Rudy is a dog who needs a compassionate and loving owner. He is a great dog who does not understand the changes in his life. He will reward his new family with loyalty and many hours of lying by their feet and following them around the house.
Can you open your heart and make this sweet old boy feel loved for his remaining years?
