Update 08/31/12:
Ring around the Rosy, or maybe it’s ring around the resident springer! As soon as Rosy got home from her most recent vet visit, she went right for her favorite pal, the resident springer, and got hold of her ears as she usually does! Rosy did very well for her spay and she won the whole office over with her cuteness! That said, Rosy was very excited to see her foster mom come for her and very excited to come home! Rosy greeted each dog with “Hey guys, miss me?” and gave them all kisses! This precious pup is just howling with delight to be back home!
With this vetting step behind her, Rosy is now really anxious to meet and greet her very own forever family! The call is out to all who welcome the joys of starting a puppy. This sweet, little, extremely happy gal is ready to fill your world with lots of fun. She’s sure to put a smile on your face each and every day and fill your world with lots of love!
Update 08/22/12:
Rosy, Rosy……….what a bundle of happiness this little pup is! She has adjusted so well to her foster home and has attached herself to the resident springer and resident German shepherd. She just loves to play and play some more; she is full of energy. And, if the resident dogs don’t want to play with her, she’ll howl her discontent to get them to play. She’s met a neighbor’s 14 week-old German shepherd pup and had a grand time playing with him! She loves to play with all toys too, the squeaky ones being her favorite!
Rosy has met the resident cats with “whole-body, tail-wagging” happiness! Though the cats aren’t too sure about Rosy and may give her smack to the nose, this doesn’t deter Rosy in her attempt to make them her friends!
Her housetraining is coming along very well. When in her puppy pen, she will use the wee wee pad; otherwise, she will do her duties outside. Rosy has learned that the doggy door is much fun to jump in and out of and will do stairs very easily. She does very well on her leash as she is ready to go out and meet the world! Though she travels back and forth on her walks because she just must check everything out, she walks along fairly nicely! Rosy has met 2 young boys, around the age of 10, on her walks and had to meet them! She likes to go on car rides but must be crated as she has to check out the entire interior of the car. Though she will howl her discontent in the crate, she settles down nicely as the car starts moving. Rosy is also learning that “sit” means a tasty treat!
Rosy went to a pet appreciation event and did very well. She greeted the other MAESSR springers that attended and all the dogs that stopped by MAESSR’s table with enthusiasm. Rosy was very happy to play with the young cheerleaders, ages 4-10, that were at the event. One thing she did not like meeting at the event were the horses! She was ready to skedaddle in the other direction! Everyone at the event that stopped by commented on just how cute Rosy is!
Feeding time is a special time for Rosy! While bowls are being prepared, Rosy will be in the kitchen sitting and watching; then she disappears. She can be found sitting by the puppy pen, anxiously waiting for her bowl as she knows this is where she eats! She will hop up and down on her rear legs with the front legs waving in the air to hurry up her foster mom!
Rosy plays hard and, when she needs a nap, she can be found curled up either on her doggy bed or on one of the blankets. At bedtime Rosy will go to her doggy bed and wait for her bedtime snack. After a few whines in the beginning, Rosy settles down nicely and sleeps all night.
She loves to be held and cuddled and will give lots of puppy kisses. Rosy is just one very happy and sociable pup! She even did very well at her vet visit and was anxious to meet everyone there. Soon Miss Rosy will be ready for her forever home! If you are looking for a very heart-capturing, friendly and constant tail-wagging pup, then Miss Rosy is your girl!
Original:
Little Rosy came to be an “honorary” Springer when MAESSR was contacted by a small, rural West Virginia shelter to help with another little female Springer mix. The night before the little “mix” girl was to be transported to a temporary foster home, the shelter folks sent a video of her with her friend – that little friend just happened to be Rosy! The shelter said that they believed Rosy to be a Springer mix too. So, in true MAESSR fashion, Rosy became an “honorary” Springer!
When her temporary foster mom got Rosy from the shelter, this puppy was no bigger than a three pound bag of sugar (and twice as sweet!) and was believed to be only six or seven weeks old. This tiny little bundle of sweetness was also a bundle of energy! While Rosy was in her temporary foster home, she resided with five older dogs and two cats. The older resident male dogs took much abuse from this little gal. If her much calmer friend would not play with her, Rosy would engage one of the older male dogs in play. The male dogs would simply amuse this little girl, as she learned very quickly that the older females where having no parts of the little one’s games; instead, they were much too motherly and would discipline Rosy. Rosy would climb on the boys, pull their ears, kiss their faces, and HOWL at them if they did not give her some attention!
The cats in her temporary foster home were another game of fun for Rosy! She loved to play with the cats, licking their faces, and surprisingly, the cats where very tolerant of this behavior. Little Rosy’s entire body would just wiggle away when she saw the cats.
When her foster mom went to work, Rosy was crated and she did not seem to mind being confined. She was also learning to use puppy pads for potty training and had only a few accidents; she kept her crate very clean for such a young puppy! This little girl is also a very good eater and was learning from the big dogs that if you “sit pretty” you get a treat. She really liked that!
Rosy has recently moved to her long term foster home so watch for more on this sweet little girl in the upcoming weeks.
