Rosie and three other Springers came to MAESSR when their Tennessee owner started having financial issues. He loved his Springers, but knew MAESSR would find them homes where they would be loved and receive good care.
Although Rosie was a little shy when she first came to her foster home, she has been extremely good with the other dogs in the home. She quickly acclimated to the multiple-dog household and started to have FUN. Fun for this love is playing, running, and cuddling with her people. Plus, she loves toys – all toys!
Rosie had a couple of accidents initially but quickly learned to go outside. She goes to work with her foster mom on occasion. On the first day she stuck close by her mom; by day two she was cruising the hallways and going from office to office to say hello. Rosie is learning to walk on a leash and when she comes in from outside she knows to sit for a cookie. Although waiting her turn has not been her strength, she is trying hard. Rosie is all puppy and you do have to keep an eye on her. While her foster mom was typing her MAESSR website information, Rosie began chewing on the laptop cord. She’s always keeping her foster mom on her toes!
Last weekend Rosie went to the Cranberry Festival as a MAESSR ambassador. She rides great in the car and was happy to get out once she arrived. However, the crowds, traffic, kids, and strollers frightened her at first and she wanted to go back to the car. She was carried to the MAESSR booth and by mid-morning was happily greeting kids, other dogs, babies in strollers, and anyone willing to give her belly rubs. After a big day representing MAESSR, this tired pup slept great!
Rosie is still a puppy and it’s important for potential adopters to understand that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Since Rosie is a quick learner, she should be a star pupil!
Rosie’s foster mom suspects that she won’t grow much bigger as she approaches full maturity. She’s looking for that special family to call her own…and this sweet, petite girl would be a happy addition to most any home.
