Roscoe was the last puppy in the litter when his New Jersey owner reached out to MAESSR for help in finding the right home for him. As cute and sweet as he is, it is hard to imagine anyone did not scoop him up! His foster mom has found that Roscoe is a joy to have around! He stays close to her and wants to be on her lap whenever it is time to sit. Roscoe is also very happy to meet new people since he is so outgoing and loveable.
Making good progress with housetraining, Roscoe is making the transition from eliminating on a pad to going outside to take care of personal business. He settles in a covered crate and rests when he spends the day with his foster mom at her office. At night he sleeps in a gated room and although he will bark at first, Roscoe settles within five minutes. A true Velcro boy, Roscoe does not want to stay outside unless he is joined by a human; then, he runs with delight!
A quick learner, Roscoe comes when called and knows “sit.” Leash walking is a work in progress as he does pull and weave side to side on the leash. Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under one year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
In his foster family Roscoe is living with two older ESS, a male and a female, and two younger dogs, a year old male ESS and a two year old male doxi. He is having a great time romping with the younger two! As the youngest in his current pack, Roscoe is learning about the different personalities in dogs and when to stay and play, and when to stay away.
This little guy needs an active forever home where people are around a good part of the day and want to give him the exercise and training he needs. Having a young canine companion to play with would be nice, too! If you have the time and commitment to invest in a puppy like Roscoe, you will have a loyal, loving friend for life.
