Roscoe has been with his family since he was 8 weeks old. The family situation has changed and he is currently crated for 9 hours a day during the week and on the weekend his people go boating without him. There is only one person, “Mom”, who pays any attention to him. No one else can be bothered. Roscoe definitely deserves better.
This boy is housetrained and gets along with other dogs and the few kids he has met. He might be too enthusiastic for toddlers because he will jump for joy on visitors. He has never shown signs of aggression but loves to be with people. When the neighbor lets him out on the weekends she brings him to her yard to play with their dog and they have a great time. There is an outside cat there which he enjoys chasing if the cat runs.
He is very well behaved on the leash but has never been given the oportunity to be off leash except in the neighbor’s yard. He is tethered outside, in a dog run, or crated. There is a horse barn and he is leashed there as he loves horse manure. At night he is allowed to share the bedroom on his bed.
He adores Mom and wants to be with her at all times. If she leaves him alone in the house to go outside for a minute he becomes agitated and will bark. He has never been destructive but has not been given the chance to try to be home alone outside the crate or learn how to be home alone except in a crate. Once crated for the day, he will bark for awhile then settles down to wait for her return.
Roscoe LOVES to ride in the car. His owner feels he would love water, too but he has never been given the chance to play in a river or lake. He loves puddles. He does not beg at the table but might steal from the counter if no one is looking. He knows “sit, stay, come (sometimes), down, shake”. One of his favorite treats is an ice cube. Roscoe loves to be groomed and bathed! He loves the water and the attention!
This boy needs a family who will want to include him in their lives, older kids, a fenced yard and maybe another dog. If there is a cat, the cat should be willing to teach Roscoe how to spell “respect”! Roscoe would love to have his people home a lot and be willing to teach him about the big world outside the crate.
