From the owner’s daughter:
Rocky (Rockford’s Jubilee) is the black/white 3 year old. He is of good temperament. He loves to play, especially play chase and tug of bone with my 6 year old. He is great with kids but I would not place him with any small (under 5) children simply because he is so exuberant, he is also a good sized dog. Rocky is in the best of health, no foreseeable future problems. Hips good, etc. He is black and white and looks like a sporting dog, very freckled. His only vice is that he is a chewer but if provided ample acceptable chewing items, he seems to leave other things alone. When he is bad, books are usually his target. He loves to sit on your feet, not beside them, on them. I think it is a security “blanket” because he does it when he first meets people or when he is unclear about a situation. He does it to his Mom/Dad too when there is not a human foot available, it is too cute! Rocky could probably benefit from an obedience class or two. He is not a bad dog he is just very lively and has been very indulged. He is my Dad’s baby!
All three of these dogs have about 1 acre to run around on. They are house dogs that have free access to the entire house and easy access to the garage and backyard via doggy doors. Rocky has never been kenneled or crated. Matlock and Casey have been penned but it was a 10X12 foot enclosure and they have been put in it in about 4 years. My father’s only sin with these animals is over indulgence but regardless of that they are still very good animals.
UPDATE:
Talk about quick. Rocky was only in rescue for a few days and he was placed. His new mom is going to pick him up two days after coming into rescue.
UPDATE:
Thought you might like an update on Rocky! He seems to have adjusted quite well to life here, although he still thinks it is his job to give chase every time Jerry (our tiger striped cat) is anywhere near. He and the other cat are able to be in the same room and even touch noses on occasion.
He has decided that I am his person, tho….even though it was believed that he would bond with the men in the house first. He did spend the early part of the week with my son and his dog, though when I had to be away for a conference. He and the puppy are the best of friends and love playing tug-of-war together.
He has really filled the hollow spot in my heart that was created when Chaz left to “cross the bridge”. We area all grateful to MAESSR for helping us to find this wonderful boy.
