Original: The gentleman who owned Rocky since he was a puppy had to move due to his disabilities. Unfortunately, Rocky could not go with him, so he relinquished him to MAESSR. The main concern of Rocky’s owner was that Rocky have a wonderful, loving home. That won’t be a hard promise to keep because this boy is just a delight.
Rocky came to his foster family on Friday the 13th but there was absolutely nothing scary about that. Rocky has been one of the easiest dogs to foster that his foster family has ever had. In fact, his foster mom and dad can’t find a negative thing to say about him. He’s just a very good Springer boy.
Rocky has many good qualities. He has wonderful house manners. He does not counter-surf, get into the trash, jump on furniture or jump on people. He is impeccably housebroken. Rocky is affectionate without being a pest or being demanding. He has shown absolutely no aggression around his food and happily gives up toys. He is quiet in the house with just a little whining to let his foster parents know he needs to go out or that someone is walking by. A very good boy at the vet, Rocky did not show any annoyance at being poked and prodded. He does have a strong startle reflex, but his reaction is just to flinch and crouch momentarily. He does not strike out, though. Rocky is crate trained but has free run of the house all day and night. Rocky is also easy to groom and would be a wonderful dog for someone to try home grooming. Before he was relinquished, Rocky’s owner shaved him for the hot summer. Once his coat grows back, he will be a deep, luscious chocolate color.
Rocky walks very well on lead and happily greets everyone he meets. He has had some obedience training and knows “sit,” “down,” “come,” and “paw.” Playing ball and going for walks are some of Rocky’s favorite activities. His foster family is encouraging this activity since they would like to trim about ten pounds off of his weight because right now, he’s a big boy at 70 pounds. Rocky is eager to play with other dogs but sometimes gets a bit rough when playing. His foster family will continue to monitor his play so he doesn’t get too carried away. Rocky likes to go for rides in the car and is a very good passenger, too.
Can you provide Rocky with that wonderful, loving home that his original owner wants him to have? He’s a treasure!
