Original: Rob was found on the side of a busy highway by a compassionate lady who picked him up and took him home with her. He had on a collar but no I. D. tag. She would have loved to have kept Rob but the family Rottweiler was too aggressive towards the newcomer and she was afraid Rob would get hurt. She called her local shelter to see if they would take him and they referred her to MAESSR.
When Rob was brought to his foster home his foster mom brushed and shaved him. He has dry, scaly skin and was bathed with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. His skin condition will be addressed at his vet visit. He is also overweight and will be corrected with diet and exercise. He will beg for food. Rob does not counter surf, bother trashcans or toilets. He is housebroken and crate trained. He walks extremely well on a leash with no tugging and loves to ride in the car but because of his weight he has a problem with getting in and out the vehicle.
He knows how to sit, stay, out/in, lie down and come. He gets along with his two foster sisters and shows no interest in the family cats, but the kitten in the house is afraid of him and hisses at him and that is the only time he has chased after a cat. His foster mom thinks that as long as he is not confronted by a feline he really shows no interest in them. The foster family’s 12 year old daughter plays rope and stuffed toy tug o’ war with him. He loves to chew on tennis balls but soon “pops” them with holes. He was introduced to the family’s 2 year old niece and 7 year old nephew and showed no particular interest in trying to play with them, although because of his size he could easily injure a small child by knocking them down if he got too wound up in play.
Rob would rather be a couch potato and have you lavish ear scratches and bellyrubs on him. He loves to return affection with lots of sloppy kisses and a paw on your arm. He is a typical Springer love bug and would love to tug on your heartstrings.
Can Rob share his love and devotion with you?
Update:
Rob was adopted by a wonderful family!
