When Riley’s family had twins, the time they could spend with him diminished and financial strain mounted. His owners realized they needed to find a new, loving family for Riley– one that could more readily could give him the time, care, and attention that he deserved. That’s when Riley became a MAESSR boy.
Before the arrival of the twins, Riley was given lots of love and attention and it shows. This is one of those dogs that immediately captures your heart with his sweet demeanor. He is a big teddy bear both in looks and behavior. Very well socialized with people of all ages and with dogs, he greets all with a wag and friendly demeanor. A real ambassador of the breed, Riley is a joy to be around.
Riley knows “sit,” “down,” and “come” and he is totally housetrained. Also, he has wonderful leash manners and will happily stroll along for miles. He is not a “jogging buddy” kind of dog as he prefers to stop and smell the roses and enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace. Very obedient on recall and with a low prey drive, Riley is trustworthy off leash in safe areas. He loves fetching tennis balls and catches treats like a pro! Riley has great car and house manners, no counter-surfing, destructive chewing or house soiling for this boy! Riley was previously allowed on furniture and will constantly try to hop on the sofa or bed to take a nap. He would love a home that allows that, as he will get down when asked, but will sneak back up as soon as you leave the room.
Although Riley does not enjoy getting groomed or having his ears cleaned, he will tolerate it. Professional groomers with the right table and equipment will have no issues with him at all. Other than that, his foster mom can’t find fault with him! He is just a good, sensible boy!
If you are looking for an easy dog that would enhance your life with quiet, friendly love and sweet devotion, then Riley is your dog. He would do well in just about any household, but because of his low key personality, his foster mom would LOVE a quiet home for this gentle soul as he likes to sleep underfoot a lot. Riley would be fine with any well-behaved dog and even dog-savvy cats!
If you have a comfy couch and would love to come home to a wonderful, full body wag, consider adopting this gentleman of a dog! An easier, more pleasant boy cannot be found!
