Original:“Riley has a ZEST for life that just does not stop!”
Riley came to MAESSR when his Maryland owner found out just how much energy a Springer puppy can have. She was unable to tire him out and he had pulled her over a couple of times. The extremely hard decision was made to relinquish him to MAESSR.
A sweet, high energy puppy, Riley loves everyone! His best friend in his previous home was a cat. In his foster home, he gets along very well with the residents dogs and other fosters. He is more than willing to lavish kisses on all people he meets and is sure that each is his best friend!
Riley’s housetraining is coming along very nicely and he is crate trained. He will pull on a leash, but does eventually settle if he is getting enough exercise. Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Riley will be an enthusiastic student!
At his vet checkup, Riley was found to be healthy overall except for a chronically luxated left hip joint. The vet performed a Femoral Head Ostectomy that should relieve his pain. He will need to be kept at a lean weight for the rest of his life. The surgery has only minimally slowed him down. Riley has a ZEST for life that just does not stop!
This sweet boy is looking for a home where he will get the training necessary for him to become a wonderful Springer and the love that he needs to keep up his zest for life.
