Original: Miss Rhapsody came into MAESSR’s care as a stray but she surely hadn’t been on her own for long. She is a perky, petite gal, nicely proportioned, at a good weight and is in overall good health. Initially it seemed as if Rhapsody had some hearing loss, but after treatment for nasty ear infections, she is tuning into everything around her. As is often the case with strays, her coat had suffered from neglect, so a bath and full clip was the best choice to begin restoring its beauty. Her skin is in good condition and already there is a little shine on her short, clean coat. She was very good for home grooming. She walked right into the shower, seemed to enjoy the warm suds and massage and didn’t try to escape once!
Since being in foster care Rhapsody has met many dogs of all sizes, genders, and ages. She has gotten along well with all. She has declined the playful overtures of the resident springer but isn’t scared of him or mean spirited when rejecting him. She simply ignores him and focuses on the people around her. She’s an expressive girl and will bark to let her people know when she needs to go out, when she is ready to come in and when it’s mealtime. She loves to look straight into your eyes to strengthen whatever point she is making. Rhap is gentle and likes to be petted. She’s not settled quite enough to ask for couch time but her foster mom can see her becoming a “star” cuddler very shortly.
Her house manners go along with her comfort indoors, except in the area of counter surfing. Her foster family underestimated her ability to reach high places and found her one day with bread crumbs and a big smile on her face. A peanut butter sandwich had vanished. Now everyone knows to keep the counters clear of unattended temptations.
Rhap sleeps bedside on her doggie bed with the rest of the family and is reliable for an 8-hour night. She is a sound sleeper and sometimes snoozes through the alarm. She will crate and spends part of her time there when her family is at work. She has logged some long-distance travel with her family already and did great. She rides in a crate when on the road too. More on this personable, little senior as she settles in!
