Original: “This high-energy boy loves to walk, run, play, and get into mischief.”
Renegade (Reni) came to MAESSR from a shelter in Pennsylvania where he was picked up as a stray. He was stinky, smelly, matted, and had an ear infection.
Estimated to be just a few years old, Reni is a very large boy, weighing in at 63 pounds. He’s not over weight, just a really big boy. It is amazing what a transformation he has made during his short time in his foster home. Now neutered, Reni is a healthy, happy, huge ball of energy. All of Reni’s vaccinations are now up to date as well.
This high-energy boy loves to walk, run, play, and get into mischief. He walks well on a leash with a pinch collar. He is very observant and loves to chase most anything. Reni gets along well with the resident female Springer although he does want to play with her constantly. It is unknown how he interacts with cats. He loves when children come up to him on his walks, but due to his high energy level, he would do better in a new home without younger children.
Reni is completely housetrained. He does sniff the edges of the counters and tables, so he will need some training there. Reni loves to ride in the car, sometimes wanting to jump in strangers’ cars on walks! He loves to play with toys and he has lots of them (preventing him from chewing on his foster mom’s things!) Playing with his toys in the fenced yard makes him a very happy boy. When Reni picked up trash on his walk, his foster mom was able to retrieve it from his mouth with no argument from him.
Reni has been to the vet and has great manners. He is inquisitive and wants to sniff everything. It is not known how he does at the groomer, but Reni’s foster mom has had no problems touching him all over.
It is recommended that Reni attend obedience training to curb any puppy behaviors and channel his immense energy. He would love agility training. With proper guidance, this happy-go-lucky boy will make a wonderful friend for his new family.
