Reggie is a 37 pound fieldie who found himself in need of a new home. His elderly owner had gone into a nursing home several months ago. During that time, Reggie stayed in the homes of other family members. When his owner passed away, the family asked for MAESSR’s help in placing him in a home where he would receive all the attention and love he needs.
With coming into MAESSR’s care Reggie visited a veterinarian for a checkup. Subsequently, he had some dental work done which included extractions. Some unknown mouth trauma in his distant past was also identified which will probably require further work. His foster family also notices a high water consumption in Reggie and, with that, a lot of urination. At this point, Cushing’s disease and diabetes have been ruled out…….yeah!……..but further work will be done in an attempt to pin point what may be going on. Beyond these needs, Reggie enjoys overall good health.
He is a sweet and very nice dog and has made himself right at home in foster care. He gets along well with the family’s two older MAESSR rescues. He is a mannerly guest and, as such, doesn’t chew on things or get into the trash. He knows many tricks and can be quite entertaining. Though not interested in toys he will go after a tennis ball.
Reggie is a very social dog. Everyone he meets is greeted with his stubby tail going a mile-a-minute. He is laid back, very curious and a Velcro dog. His favorite activities are getting a tummy scratch, being brushed and eating. He was used to sleeping in his owner’s bedroom and has persuaded his foster parents to indulge his habit………:)).
Fingers crossed that Reggie’s medical issues will be minor and put behind him soon. This trickster’s ready to get on with his life. He’s wonderfully adaptable, as are senior springers in general, and will quickly be at home with an adopting family!
