Original: “Eager to give kisses, this youngster will jump on the furniture to give his person a kiss and then jump off and lie on his doggie bed.”
Reede came to MAESSR from a Tennessee shelter. Between one and two years old, he is a little bundle of sweetness and love!
This good boy is housetrained and signals his need to go out by wandering around and getting antsy. His foster mom has not crate trained him because he is so good in the house and because he gets upset if he is confined. All he wants is to be where his people are. When his foster family is out of the house, he has been given free roam of the house with the resident dogs and he has been fine. At night Reede (aka Buddy) sleeps on the bed along with one of his canine companions.
Reede does need more training in proper house manners. He is a counter-surfer who loves to see what his foster parents are doing at the kitchen counter. They have to keep everything of importance away from the edge of the counter so he cannot reach it. Although the countertops interest him, Reede does not bother the trash. Eager to give kisses, this youngster will jump on the furniture to give his person a kiss and then jump off and lie on his doggie bed. He seems to be past the inappropriate chewing stage and only chews on dog toys. In his excitement to meet people, Reede will try to jump on them when they enter the house.
In order for him to be a good, cooperative house dog, Reede needs to be trained in basic commands. He is a pleaser and focuses on his person when he’s asked to “sit.” He comes to his person because of love…….not because he knows the command. On leashed outings, he will walk at the heal position if you demand that he do this. Meeting other dogs and people has been no problem. He rides well in the car and wants to sit on the seat beside you. He loves to be near his people!
Good with the resident dogs, Reede likes to play tug-of-war with them and run after a ball in the house with the other dogs. He is fine eating at the same time with other dogs as they are separated from each other. Although he has not met any cats yet, his foster mom thinks that he may be good with them as he is a laid-back little boy.
Reede can be touched all over with no problem; he is very trusting. His foster mom has been clipping Reede’s coat with both scissors and a trimmer and he is accepting of this. He was also a very good boy at the vet. All Reede needs now is a loving family who is willing to commit to training him and giving him the love, attention, and exercise he needs Do you need a sweet little boy who will sit next to you and be your little shadow?
