Red was picked up as a stray and taken to a Pennsylvania shelter. When no one came to claim this super friendly boy, the shelter staff looked to MAESSR to help find him the home he deserves. In his foster home, Red is known as “Parker.” He is a sweet and gentle boy who is wonderful with everyone, even young kids.
With generally good house manners, Parker is housetrained and crate-trained. He does get onto the furniture because he likes to nap on a chair. He counter-surfs occasionally and has also made attempts to get in the trash because he likes to steal tissues! Parker loves to be in the kitchen with his foster mom while she’s cooking and sleeps in bed with his foster dad. He prefers to sleep on his back and be held like a baby!
Parker “sits” on command and likes to ride in cars. He does pull when being leash-walked. He likes to play with his toys and is not possessive of toys or food. Parker has a medium energy level and is generally laidback with one exception: he is a bit of an escape artist. His foster parents sometimes call him “Houdini” as he once slipped past someone coming into the house and ran out the front door. He came back fairly quickly, but would benefit from a forever home with a fenced yard as it doesn’t seem that he’d be trustworthy off-leash.
Since Parker is an attention sponge, it’s no surprise that he does very well at the groomer. He doesn’t mind having his nails trimmed or his ears cleaned. Parker is an adaptable guy who would fit in well in a variety of families. His ideal forever home would feature a human or canine playmate, a snuggle buddy, and a secure yard. Could your home be the perfect place for Parker?
