Rebel came to MAESSR when his West Virginia owner could no longer afford to care for him. He is a handsome dog who doesn’t fit his name very well at all. Instead of being rebellious, he’s a major cuddle bunny. With his good looks and reasonable size (41 pounds), he may be the prettiest dog his foster parents have had through in the three years they’ve been fostering! He doesn’t counter or garbage surf, had only one accident in the house (first day jitters), crates quietly at night, and gets along well with the resident dogs, typically playing the clown role. His one current issue is that he wants to jump up when greeting people. He’s learning to sit as an alternative, though with his desire for pets, he has a wiggle-butted sitting style.
Up to date on shots and recently neutered, Rebel’s also a good weight for his build. His leash manners aren’t bad at all. Off leash in a fenced yard, he comes when called. Good boy, Rebel! Reb will bark when he sees people outside, but quiets down when told to do so. Since he’s not yet two years old, he’s a bit active indoors and out. He settles down when folks are watching TV or working and just hangs out with his Springer foster sister. Romping around the yard with her is another of his favorite activities, playing keep-away with whatever toy or stick they find available.
Rebel likes car rides. He sometimes needs a prompt or boost to get him in, but soon curls up in the back to watch the world go by. He’s not shown any food or toy aggression, and seems to like strangers on walks. While not exposed to children in his foster home, he should be fine with any old enough to not be pushed over by his extroverted methods of greeting people.
This handsome gentleman, while independent, loves people. He’d rather sit for pets or grooming than eat. At the same time, he gets along great with the resident dogs, seeming to enjoy their companionship. This sweet Rebel will make someone a wonderful lifelong buddy.
