Reagan 3 was relinquished to MAESSR due to a change in her Virginia owners living situation. Reagan is a well-loved, spoiled girl who is best described as lovable, smart, adaptable, and amazing. Reagan has always been in an adult home. She craves attention and companionship and may enjoy the attention of an older/teenage child to dote on her. Since becoming a MAESSR girl, Reagan has gone to a second foster home where she has resident canine siblings.
This beauty always wants to be nearby. She enjoys being on the sofa during TV time and on the foot of the bed during sleep time but in her new foster home, Reagan sleeps quietly all night in her favorite crate and uses it for naps during the day. She reportedly was fine being left alone in her original home but has shown some separation anxiety in the short time she has been with her first foster family.
Housetrained, Reagan will let her people know she needs to go outside by sitting at the door.
Since Reagan has been an only dog, she has had limited experience with other dogs and does not engage them in play. In her current foster home, Reagan enjoys the company of her two hound foster siblings but would do fine as an only dog if her folks were around a bit. She loves the fenced yard, but also loves having her person come out with her for company. Calm in general, Reagan’s whole body will wag if she’s talked to with “the happy voice.”
Reagan seemed to only know the command, “sit,” but is eager and quick to learn new commands with a reward. Toys do not seem to interest her. During her time in her first foster home, Reagan
walked well with a retractable leash, but she is a strong girl and pulled very hard when a 6-foot leash was used. Her new foster home uses a harness and that seems to work really well. She’s learning “look at me” to focus on instead of pulling.
Reagan does not beg at the table during meals. She knows where her treat jar is and may occasionally counter-surf at that spot to let her foster mom know it’s time for a treat. She loves baby carrots and small dog biscuits. The new girl in the home also loves belly rubs and has her teeth brushed and her paws rubbed daily.
She becomes very excited meeting new people and reportedly did well at the groomer in her original home. While at her first foster home, Reagan was initially apprehensive at the vet, but settled down during the exam. She is doing better with car rides, preferring to ride shotgun in the passenger’s seat and rest her nose on the headrest.
Reagan is an adorable little girl! She is totally cute, and her pictures don’t do her justice! Ask about Reagan if you think she might fit in with your family.
