Original: “His dream home would be a family with children that had lots of time to spend with him.” When their West Virginia owner died recently, biological brothers Rascal and Oreo were in need of a new home. So, these Springer mixes became part of the MAESSR family.
Although the boys have never been separated, their foster mom has evaluated them closely and feels that they would both do better individually if they were separated. They just are not that bonded and each would blossom if adopted by his own forever family. Oreo wants to be with people all of the time and Rascal likes people but also likes to go play with the other dogs.
Rascal lives up to his name. He will try to counter-surf and rummage in the trash can if given the opportunity. His foster mom is making sure the opportunity does NOT arise! On a more positive note, Rascal is housetrained and even though he is crate-trained, he much prefers being with his people. He has been trustworthy in the home when allowed free roam. If there is room for him on the couch, though, he will jump up for a rest. When bedtime rolls around, Rascal will either sleep in his crate or on a dog bed in his foster parents’ bedroom.
This active boy likes to play with balls, water bottles and squeaky toys. He loves the water, too. With this playful, sweet temperament Rascal gets along with other dogs and he LOVES children and babies! As much as he would like car rides, Rascal does get carsick but an over-the-counter medication for motion sickness helps him.
Rascal has been to obedience class and knows simple commands. He walks okay on a leash but really has not had much practice since he was always off-leash in his previous home. At the groomer he was great as he really enjoys the whole spa treatment. At the vet he was a little skittish but sweet nevertheless.
This sweet boy loves people and wants to be with them. His dream home would be a family with children that had lots of time to spend with him.
Remember, Springer is a state of mind and Rascal has the Springer traits that we all love! He will make a sweet companion for some lucky family.
