Original: “Raider does not know any commands but he is very smart so it will not take a lot of training for him to learn everything he needs to know to be a wonderful family member.”
Raider belonged to a Virginia family that had bred him a couple of times. They made the decision to stop breeding dogs and asked MAESSR for help in finding him a new home. Although we knew he was not a Springer, he was an extremely sweet boy, so we said YES!
Raider had been living in a kennel environment, but he is quickly making the adjustment to living in a home. This handsome boy had a few marking accidents in his foster home when he first arrived. After a couple of stern talking tos by his foster mom, he decided that marking inside was not a good idea.
His new family will have to remain aware that he is still a work in progress to complete this training.
Somewhat of a blank slate when it comes to obedience training, Raider does not know any commands but he is very smart so it will not take a lot of training for him to learn everything he needs to know to be a wonderful family member. Even now he walks alright on a leash, but will get better with practice.
Raider rides well crated in a car. He has not been on a car ride yet where he is not crated, but his foster mom feels he would just lie down and watch the world go by.
A boy with a desire to play, Raider has just started learning what toys are. He is having a blast playing with the toys in his foster home.
Raider was fantastic at the vet. The staff all loved his sweet personality.
Raider’s ideal family must be willing to continue working with him so he understands how to be the wonderful companion they want. They need to understand that he can be energetic and needs to be able to run. Any and all effort put into this sweet boy will be rewarded with a smile from Raider and a willingness to learn.
