Original: Quincy’s owner relinquished him to MAESSR, knowing that this boy needed more attention than he was getting. Her work hours were very long and he was being left alone too much. Quincy is in overall good health but is carrying around a few extra pounds. Increased exercise in his foster home should help him out on this one.
Quincy does enjoy his crate, but much prefers that you don’t shut the door! He is benefiting from medication as well as some behavior modification at this time to assist with separation issues. The new behaviors are also to help him control his barking. His foster family has added lots of outside activity to help get some of the weight off of him and to fulfill the saying, “a tired springer is a good springer.” Quincy loves being able to run around in his foster family’s large, fenced-in backyard. He is also learning his place in the pack after a few run-ins with the two resident springers. Even though Quincy was not previously with cats, he has quickly learned that the resident queen-bee cat controls the whole household’s springers included!
Some commands come easily for Quincy and he can learn more. He will pick out his treat with a game of “pick a paw.” With a family who has time to work with him a bit, Quincy is a dog who will shine long into his golden years and be a wonderful companion to the humans, canines, and yes, even felines in an adopting home.
