Original: When Princess’s owner had a drastic change of fortune and could no longer care for her, she contacted MAESSR to find her beloved springer a new home. Princess is a real sweetheart! Her foster mother has taken to calling her “Sweetie” because of this. She is a very loving, petite girl who had puppies in July and is awaiting spaying. She was a little nervous at the vet’s office but she allowed him to check her out completely.
Princess is very quiet, quite the opposite of the very active 13-month-old resident male springer. She tolerates him but lets him know when he is being overly playful. For this reason, she may really enjoy being the only dog in the household. She does join him for a good round of barking and playful exchanges with the next-door neighbor’s two dogs, though. In her previous home, she lived with a cat and she completely ignored the resident cats at the vet’s office. At this point, she is not interested in toys or balls or chew things. Her foster mom thinks this could be due to her long journey to her foster home and missing her previous family who reported that she likes to play ball. Princess does not chew or take anything that is not hers. She comes when her name is called and knows to “give paw,” “sit,” and “beg.” She is fairly good on a leash, only pulling a little and rides well in the car.
Princess would be a very loving addition to any family. She enjoys cuddling on her foster mom’s lap when she is invited up onto the couch and she will get down when told to. One of her favorite spots is curled up at her foster mom’s feet when she is on the computer. Princess actually falls fast asleep and even snores peacefully. She is completely house trained and sleeps on a doggie pillow at night in the kitchen. According to her previous family, Princess does not like a crate at all so her foster family has not introduced her to one yet. A baby gate is used to limit her activity during the day when the foster parents are at work and it works well. Princess has nice house manners. She does not counter surf and she leaves the trash alone. She does like to see if you have anything to offer her from your plate but sits down upon request.
This Pennsylvania princess is looking for a loving family with whom she can live happily ever after. If you are humming, “Some Day My Princess Will Come,” MAESSR has found her for you!
