Update 02/28/05:
The outcome of Prancer’s visit to the vet was good news. The vet found no neurological problems and felt that his curious movement will be outgrown. A stool sample contained giardia for which he was successfully treated.
He continues to be a full-time playboy, rough housing with the other springer in his foster home, playing ball, and chewing on a variety of Kong toys. He loves soft toys, too, but shreds even the toughest ones his foster mom can find. He is nearly housetrained and is making progress on his basic commands. An obedience class with his adopting family will be a must to help him bond and continue this progress. He is such a love when he is not playing!!!!
Original:
Prancer was rescued from a shelter in Pittsburgh. There is not much history about him as he was picked up as a stray. He has been bathed and trimmed and was terrific during the process. He weighs in at 40 pounds and has a full liver blanket and docked tail. At the vet’s office, he was a hit, letting everyone handle him without a problem.
Prancer was given his name because of the way he “prances” around. He gets so excited. He will stand in place and just prance! It is so funny and he gets so much attention wherever he goes because of this trait! His foster family thinks he must be part deer or show horse because of how he bounces around with a great big smile on his face all the time!
Prancer is very excited to be in his foster home and is full of energy! He is so animated and loves to play with the resident male ESS. He is great with cats, both inside and outside. He does well with his 7 year old, two-legged foster brother too! He is learning simple commands and how to walk on a leash without pulling. Prancer would benefit greatly from obedience classes with his adopting family to complete what is only beginning in his foster home.
He is slowly learning house manners. He is crate trained and used to being in his crate during the day when his foster family is at work. He is learning not to jump on furniture or people. He is catching on to being house-trained.
Prancer is not an aggressive guy in any way at all. He lets anyone handle him and doesn’t care if his food is bothered when he is eating.
He is very playful and a real wiggler! He never slows down and needs a lot of exercise. He would love to have a forever home with a fenced in yard to run around in as fast as he can! Prancer is a young, energetic adult who will prance his way right into the hearts of his adopting family and become a great best friend.
