Original: “Pistol Annie definitely lives up to her name! Yet she will also charm you and melt your heart with her oh-so-adorable goo-goo eyes and endearing puppy head tilts.”
This past July, the MAESSR family oversaw the birth of a litter of beautiful pups (Pistol Annie, a brother and five sisters) who are now being readied for their forever homes.
Pistol Annie shares her foster home with two of her 6 littermates– Emmy Lou 2 and Jolene–and the trio have blossomed into 3 super sweet, rambunctious and lovable pups, providing endless entertainment to their foster mom and the 4 resident Springers. The 2 resident males idolize these little sweeties, protecting and watching over them as big brothers do. The girls use their brothers as jungle gyms as well as for hair pulling, toy stealing, chasing and snuggling. The resident females were none too keen with these youngsters and kept their distance, giving warning snarks if any got too close. These pups do not tolerate “no” and have wormed their way into their foster sisters’ domains as well. It’s common to see the pups snuggled up with 1 or more of the resident siblings
Annie was originally penned in a large room with her sisters. Now that she is older, a dog gate allows her free run of the room, where she also has an individual crate. She is fed in her crate (which helped greatly with crate training) and sleeps there at night. Given her current size, she and her sisters are now able to push down the dog gate to freedom. Ergo, she is now crated whenever foster mom is gone more than a few hours. As she has grown and matured (as far as puppy speak goes), she has been allowed more access to main areas of the house. At first, she acted like a crazed pup in a treat shop; with improved behavior, she’s allowed more liberties. Contrary to her wishes, this doesn’t include jumping all over the furniture or making herself comfy on the couch! With a very large fenced-in yard, Annie also spends a lot of time outside playing, romping and sniffing all that country living offers. Though she plays with her littermates a lot, she also loves to play individually with her foster siblings. Though the puppies can be very rough in their play, they’re evenly matched in submissive/aggressive play, i.e., none is more or less submissive/aggressive than another; they do an excellent job trading off these roles.
Annie loves to be massaged and touched all over, including her paws, ears and belly, and often falls asleep in the process. Her adoptive home should continue this practice as it helps greatly with grooming and vet visits. Housetraining is a work in progress.
Pistol Annie definitely lives up to her name! Yet she will also charm you and melt your heart with her oh-so-adorable goo-goo eyes and endearing puppy head tilts. She loves nothing more than snuggling belly up and showing off her adorable bellyful of freckles. Like her siblings, Annie prefers to be with her human and canine buddies. She is especially vocal in the morning when she wants out of her crate. One does not need an alarm clock; leave it to Annie to make you rise and shine.
This gem is full of personality and love. She has adorable markings all over. Like any Springer, she is a true cuddlebug who loves being with her human more than with her toys. She is very curious and strong willed. Fortunately she’s also highly food motivated which will greatly benefit with her training. Potential adopters should note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention and commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to enroll their puppy in one set of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption.
Pistol Annie is looking to sing “The Best Years of my Life” to her very own forever family!!
