Pippa returned to MAESSR when her owners’ health concerns became too much to handle along with taking care of Pippa. It was a heartbreaking decision, but they felt that Pippa needed more than she could get with them. Returning to her original foster home, Pippa walked in like she had never left.
Pippa is still the same sweet girl she was the first time around but shows some subtle change to her observant foster parents. She has gotten more tolerant of other dogs and now happily plays with most of the dogs in her foster home. One of her favorite activities is going for a ride in the car, so she would like a new family that will take her for lots of rides. Whenever the family car leaves home, Pippa would love to be on board!
Since her return, Pippa has been treated for a skin infection and an ear infection. She continues to benefit from a seizure medication and supplements for thyroid and anxiety. This beautiful gal is now in good shape.
Pippa is still trying to con her foster dad into keeping her but, despite admirable efforts, she will likely fail. Her dad knows she will bring the same joy to others that she lavishes on those around her now. So, if you are looking for a sweet girl that will adore you and want to spend a lot of time cuddling, Pippa is the one for you. Ask about meeting her now. Pippa became a MAESSR girl because she was not getting along with the other dogs in her Pennsylvania family. Re-homing her was thought to be the best thing for all involved.
In the past Pippa has had seizures but now they are under control with a low dosage of seizure medication. A good girl at her vet appointment, she is now being treated for ear infections and for low thyroid levels.
Just wonderful with people, Pippa is very friendly, loving, and submissive around her human friends. In her original home she was good with the family’s indoor cat unless there was food around, but she would chase their outdoor cat. She LOVES to chase birds– although she has never caught one– but feels it’s her duty to chase them! Seeing birds through the window sets her barking and she will bark when someone comes to the door.
Completely housetrained, Pippa goes to the door to indicate that she needs to go out. Crate trained, too, Pippa had stayed full days in her crate when her former family was at work. When her foster family returns home, Pippa is very excited and happy to see them, jumping up in her excitement. When it’s mealtime for her foster family, Pippa does not beg and she does not counter-surf as a rule; however, if no one is around and the opportunity presents itself, she will steal food off the counter. Pippa is good about just chewing on her own toys and bones. In the yard she does not dig nor does she attempt to go over or under a fence. Good girl!
Pippa has had some “puppy kindergarten” training and does know several commands including “sit,” “down,” “paw,” “wait,” and “off.” “Stay” is a work in progress; sometimes she does and sometimes not. She loves car rides and would lean her head out of the window if given a chance. At the groomer, Pippa is a very good girl and she is used to going to the “spa” regularly. She has no issues with having her ears or feet handled and loves to be brushed,
Loving to play, Pippa enjoys a game of fetch with a ball or a toy. Stuffed toys are her favorites and she often carries one around in her mouth for company. She absolutely LOVES to swim and hopes she will get opportunities to do so in her forever home. Don’t think that this athletic girl would make a hunting dog, though, as she is afraid of gunfire. On a more fun note, Pippa loves to show off her tricks of “roll over” and “shake.” She is happy to cooperate when her people ask her to “get your toy,” too. If she has been outdoors and comes back in wet from rain, snow or the sprinkler, this smart girl knows she must sit by the door and wait until she is fluffed dry with a towel.
