Pierot has lived a wonderful life with just one owner. Sadly, his owner has moved into assisted living, and Pierot is now seeking his own place to live out his final years. Until we figure out a way for senior citizens to take their dogs to assisted living, MAESSR will step in and help these very special pups.
Pierot is wonderful with other dogs and completely concedes power over to the other dog. Even when his canine foster sister pushes him out of the way so she can eat his food, Pierot allows it. Naturally, the foster mom does not and Pierot is getting fed.
You could say that Pierot’s favorite pastime is giving and receiving love. Oh, and eating. He loves food and treats. He is never far from his foster mom and is quite content to lie at her feet. When he thinks the time is right, he will roll over and try to snag a belly rub. Because he seems to ask so nicely, his foster mom is happy to oblige. And if the belly rub is followed by a treat, all the better!
So far, this housetrained gent is showing his best house manners, but his foster mom suspects he would counter-surf if given the opportunity. He also pretends to be a very good boy and lies on his dog bed whenever the humans are in residence. However, his foster mom has returned home more than once to find him lounging on the furniture. A baby gate did not deter him from stretching out on the living room sofa. He broke right through it and was found enjoying a little siesta. He has the most adorable sounding snore that his foster mom finds particularly endearing.
Pierot is not much of a barker but will defend the manse if necessary. He barked his head off at the lawn service crew and did not seem convinced that they were not trespassing. Otherwise, he is a quiet boy.
Pierot isn’t particularly interested in toys but he loves being outside in the yard and walks very well on a leash. When he arrived at his foster home, the MAESSR transporter said he was terrific in the car. He definitely knows the command stay and he seems to know sit. Usually his foster mom is telling him to sit when treats are present and he more does more of a curtsy than actually sitting. Perhaps the curtsy comes with being an English Springer Spaniel?
Is your home in need of some extra Springer lovin’? If so, Pierot might just be the special dog for you.
