Philly was relinquished from another rescue in Pennsylvania which had rescued her from a puppy mill. The other rescue gave her to MAESSR so that we could find her an experienced owner.
Due to a birth defect, Philly had a deformed left front leg. This was amputated and she is now recovering well. This girl is a playful, energetic puppy!
Potential adopters should note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
Philly is about 60 percent housetrained at this point. She is showing signs of improvement as she receives treatment for her urinary tract infection.
Although she has had very little exposure to being on a leash, this smart girl is learning appropriate leash behavior. Philly rides well in the car.
While the first chapter of her life wasn’t the best, with MAESSR’s help, Philly is looking for her happily ever after in her forever home. This three-legged sweetheart is going to bring great joy to some lucky family.
