Original: “Very sweet and loving, Pepper shares well with both dogs and people.”
Pepper was originally purchased as a birthday present for the husband of her Virginia family. He was retired and home with Pepper all day so she was able to get lots of exercise and attention. Unexpectedly, the husband passed away. The wife had two older Yorkies and Pepper to now care for in addition to a full time job and a long commute. That meant Pepper was not getting the amount of exercise a one year old Springer girl needs. After a lot of thought, the wife decided that Pepper would do much better in a home where someone had more time and energy to care for this sweet young pup. She contacted MAESSR to ensure Pepper would get a home with a loving family with lots of time to devote to her.
Housetrained and crate trained, Pepper has been a good houseguest for her foster family. She currently sleeps in the big bed with her foster parents and is as good as gold all night. During the day she plays with a couple of the resident dogs and other fosters. Very sweet and loving, Pepper shares well with both dogs and people. She likes to ride in the car and is a good passenger.
Pepper was really good for her visit with the vet. It was found that she had a urinary tract infection for which she is being treated. Otherwise, her health is great.
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies (even those one year old!) in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Pepper will really enjoy this training experience with her new family.
Pepper’s current foster home is a beehive of activity with many resident and foster dogs. To see how she does in a less active environment, Pepper will be moving to a different foster home where she can be evaluated further. MAESSR just wants to make sure she is as good as she can be before she is adopted. Watch for updates on this sweetie!
