Pellet was turned in to a New Jersey shelter because his owner was having some major medical issues and didn’t have time to exercise or care for him any longer. Volunteers at the shelter just loved him and thought he was a total sweetheart, so they contacted MAESSR to help with him. Pellet was EXTREMELY glad to get out of the shelter and into a foster home. He does not like to be confined to a cage or crate. When he is confined, he drools and cries. Since he has been in his foster home, he has had free roam in the house and has been an almost perfect guest. Pellet will check out the counters to ensure there is nothing there that he needs to “take care of” for you – such a generous contribution to the household!!
This handsome boy is very sweet and loving which has earned him his nickname, Teddy, as in Teddy Bear. He is happiest when he is touching you. Pellet loves to sleep in the bed with his foster family, but he will also get off and sleep on the floor when asked. He pulls on a leash, so his foster mom recommends that he be walked with a harness. Pellet loves to go for a ride in the car. At any opportunity, he quickly jumps in and settles down. He’s a model passenger.
As does every dog in MAESSR’s care, Pellet went to the vet for a checkup. While he was there, he tested positive for Lyme disease. He is not symptomatic but is being treating with an antibiotic to be on the safe side. The vet also did xrays on his front elbows and his hips. They show that Pellet has arthritis in both front elbows, but the right one is worse. He also has some arthritis in his hips. His foster mom was surprised to find this out as Pellet does not act like he has any problems. Nevertheless, he is being started on a supplement regime that will hopefully help keep those joints loosened up. Beyond these two manageable issues, Pellet is overall a healthy boy!
Would you like to cuddle up with “Teddy”? He’s almost ready to begin traveling with his very own family, and, when home, be assured he will willingly keep an eye to your counters too!!
