Updated 08/26/2022: “She is just a little delight.”
This little girl is growing in confidence every day. Daily walks and adventures are starting to be fun for Pebbles. Her foster mom thinks she is just a little delight. Although still a bit of a couch potato, she likes going for a ride in the car and walks at all the different parks are an adventure.
The crate is put away now; there is no need for it anymore. Pebbles is trustworthy in her housetraining and instead of needing to be crated, she’ll find the most comfortable dog bed to sleep on.
Another plus is that Pebbles is getting much more relaxed meeting new people and will let them pet her as long as she is not rushed. In typical Springer fashion, Pebbles wants to be where her foster mom is. Upstairs, downstairs… doesn’t matter.
Pebbles has displayed no resource guarding with either food or toys, but still is not very interested in playing with toys. She’ll carry a ball around from time to time and then just drop it.
She’s quite good with the resident Springer and part-time labradoodle that comes a few days a week. But she might be a problem around cats since she seems to have discovered the squirrels in the back yard and chases them. Chasing cats might be good sport for her so forever home should be cat free. Pebbles has had no interaction with young children yet… but she is good with older kids.
This fine girl will soon be ready for her forever home. Will it be yours?
Original: “She is just starting to show interest in toys and is not sure what to do with them, but she’ll carry a ball or soft toy around.”
Say hello to Pebbles who was part of a group of dogs from a Virginia kennel that came into the care of MAESSR when their owner passed.
This has been quite the adventure for a sweet, little girl who only knew life in a kennel. However, she is blossoming in a home with another senior Springer to show her the ropes. She is finding no greater joy then trotting around the yard chasing the birds and butterflies.
Pebbles is just learning the basic commands of “come,” “sit,” and “wait.” But, she definitely knows “outside!” There have been no “accidents” in the house. She is in her crate at night and during the day when the foster mom is at work, but this is not a problem since she is such a laid back girl.
The new girl has started daily walks in the park with the other dog and is doing great. Other dogs and people passing by don’t seem to faze her in the least. She is just starting to show interest in toys and is not sure what to do with them, but she’ll carry a ball or soft toy around.
Pebbles has no interest in the resident parrot or the koi pond–a good thing since she’s a little on the heavy side. All dogs are fed at the same time but in adjoining rooms and with supervision. She has shown no signs of any food guarding.
Stay tuned for an update as her personality reveals itself.
