Pawsy, or Paws, as he has quickly become known in his foster home, is a lively bundle of energy that loves to PLAY! He loves toys of all types but especially has a fondness for the ones that make noise. He has shredded a couple of stuffed animals but usually the worst he does is to take them outside and leave them. While Paws doesn’t like to release a toy to his foster mom and can get very stubborn about it, he will trade with her for a treat.
It doesn’t take treats, though, for Paws to give up toys to the 4 year old grandson who visits his foster home. Paws was thrilled to meet him and seems to thinks this little boy is better than doggy treats! Paws will play with him all day long and never leaves his side. They play chase and keep away and enjoy the kiddie pool together. Paws will let the boy take toys from him, even when he does not want to, and gives them up better than to his foster mom. Once in their play, Paws has toppled the little boy, but it wasn’t really his fault. While his high energy level may be too much for really young children, his foster mom feels that older children could be a part of his new family.
This fellow was relinquished into MAESSR’s care by a family who found his high energy too much to manage. His owner felt Paws was very, very smart and mostly needed someone with time to keep his mind and body busy. He came from a line of field champion springers. Paws is very active when he is outside at his foster home, even without a boy to play with. It can take him a few minutes to calm down when he comes inside. His foster mom agrees that he is very smart and feels he would do well with people who are going to give him a job to do, such as hunting, agility, tracking, or obedience classes.
When it comes to his house manners, Paws is housebroken and crate trained. He will counter surf and/or trash pick if given the opportunity, but he doesn’t get on furniture or chew on inappropriate items. He knows “sit” and ‘down”. His original owner reported him to be good at the groomer. Do you want a springer to LIVEN up your life? Perhaps you are looking for an intelligent and highly active springer to partner with for competition or self-enrichment? If so, Paws could be a perfect match!!
