Picked up as a stray by a county animal shelter in North Carolina, Patsy Cline was held the required length of time waiting for someone to claim her. When that didn’t happen, she received her “get out of jail free” card as MAESSR swooped in to release her.
PC was taken to a temporary foster home for a few days where she enjoyed being the cuddle bunny of a teenager. She quickly learned that being inside and sharing a bed with her own girl was pretty awesome. PC was then moved to her current foster home where she has become the third dog in the home. She quickly bonded with her foster mom and was a little reluctant when meeting her foster dad. Despite her concerns, PC’s foster dad has made friends with her.
She is good with other dogs and has played with her foster mom’s one year old mini Aussie. She gets along with the two resident dogs but will grumble if she is getting human attention and the resident female dog comes up.
Patsy Cline has been introduced to children as young as four years old. She wags her tail and waits patiently to be petted. She has napped with the foster mom’s eight year old granddaughter and likes to follow the children around the yard.
This petite cutie went for a grooming and to the vet for her checkup. She has a skin infection that the vet thinks is due to an allergy to fleas. She had no fleas on her but was given flea medication at the shelter and a bath in her temporary foster home. The antibiotic and anti-itch medication she’s receiving is already making her feel much better and she is no longer scratching.
For the most part PC is housetrained, having had just a couple of accidents. She will go to the door as a signal to go out. She will go out with the resident dogs and, once she is outside, she enjoys the fenced yard and will play chase with the other dogs or with a ball. While Patsy Cline likes you to throw a ball, her idea of play is “keep away.” Other than a chew toy, PC’s foster mom hasn’t observed her playing with other toys.
When the leash comes out, Patsy Cline gets very excited and enjoys her walks. She walks well on a leash but has had no training and would benefit from basic training classes. She rides well in the car and enjoys going on rides.
PC has the run of the house and is not crated. When the foster family isn’t home, she is in the bedroom with the two resident Springers. And yes, she sleeps in the bed with her foster mom, dad, and two resident Springers. PC enjoys following her foster mom and does want to be her person’s shadow. She even walked beside her foster mom while she was mowing the grass! This little girl isn’t afraid of the vacuum or thunderstorms (or lawn mowers!)
PC has good house manners. She doesn’t counter-surf, get in the trash, or beg while her people are eating. She does enjoy a nice long nap on the couch or a snuggle in bed, but will lie on the floor as well. Her favorite place to lie is on the wooden shelf under the dining table in her foster home…a throne for a little princess. She does not chew inappropriately and has shown no signs for resource guarding. PC will, however, try to discourage other dogs from butting in when she is getting attention. The vet said she grumbled at him, but she did fine for the groomers.
Patsy Cline would enjoy being an only dog but gets along fine with other dogs as well. She loves the attention of children. If you are looking for a little princess to follow you around, sleep beside you, and help you watch your favorite TV show, with then PC is your girl.
