Updated 02/02/2024: “Although her owner loves her, she realizes that hers is not the right home for Paisley; she needs to be in a home without other animals.”
Paisley is an active 9-year-old who has lived with her owner for over a year. During this time, it has become apparent that Paisley needs to be the only pet in the house. She sometimes gets along with the resident cats and other times she will attack them for no reason. She will do the same with the resident dog and has randomly attacked a small visiting dog. Paisley and the resident dog can be sleeping together on the couch and then Paisley goes after him.
Paisley has no trouble with people; she loves people and they love her. A close friend who is ill lives with the owner and has health care workers visiting. Paisley has behaved wonderfully with these visitors whether the owner was home or not. She will jump up on someone but knows the command “get down.” She also knows “come,” “sit,” and “stay.” Paisley’s only exposure to children is at the neighbors. The children are between 9 and 13 years old and Paisley does well with them especially when they give her belly rubs. She even likes to meet them when their school bus drops them off.
As most Springers are, Paisley is a very smart dog. She does well at the groomers and vet, but does not like it when her owner touches her feet or tries to brush her. She has snapped at her owner for doing those things. Ironically, she doesn’t give the groomer any issues.
This pretty bunny likes raw carrots and very gently takes any kind of treat from one’s hand. Paisley is not a snuggler and will stay on the other end of the couch or bed from her person. Although her owner loves her, she realizes that hers is not the right home for Paisley; she needs to be in a home without other animals.
Original: “Paisley loves to be near her person and is allowed on the couch to cuddle without being on top of her foster mom.”
Paisley came to MAESSR from a Pennsylvania family where the husband had passed away two years ago. She was very attached to the husband and took his absence very hard. Her personality changed and she started soiling in the house—something that had never happened before. Her owner decided it might be best to relinquish her to MAESSR.
Since she’s been in foster care, Paisley has been an exceptionally well-behaved dog. She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and uses the doggie door when she needs to go outside. She is not crate trained but crating is not needed as she is such a good house guest who has free run of the house.
Paisley loves to be near her person and is allowed on the couch to cuddle without being on top of her foster mom. She has shown no inclination to counter-surf but nothing is left on the counters to tempt her either. She leaves the trash alone, too. This good girl does not beg at the table when her people are eating. At night she generally sleeps in her own bed but will sometimes join her foster mom in hers.
Very good outside on walks, Paisley just pulls a little when leashed. When off lead, she loves to run around the yard and play with her ball. At this point in her life, Paisley ranks as medium in energy level. Her ball is her favorite toy. She listens very well and, if she tries to venture off, she comes back when called with a stern “here” or just her name. When it is time for a car ride, Paisley is a good passenger, panting some and then lying down on the back seat. Once settled there, she doesn’t more until it is time to get out
Paisley’s foster mom took her to meet some friends and their dogs at the park. This was a fun adventure and Paisley was very friendly with dogs and people alike. She also did very well at her vet appointment. Although she has not needed grooming yet, Paisley will surely do well there too.
There is a resident cat in Paisley’s foster home and she is very respectful of her kitty friend. When the cat drinks out of Paisley’s water bowl, she patiently waits for him to get done. Good pup!
Paisley would love a forever home where her new parents were around most of the time. She LOVES being with her people! Having a cat or another dog in the family would be fine too. Paisley has a lot of love to share!
