When their owner’s work schedule and living situation both changed drastically, Paddy and his half-sister Molly 38 became MAESSR dogs. These lovely seniors were used to having someone home constantly and having access to their yard on demand. With a move pending to a condo with no yard and with the dogs being left alone for long periods of time, their owner felt it would be best for Paddy and Molly to find new homes where they would enjoy a better living situation.
Paddy has adapted very well to foster care. Having adults around him constantly is what this senior is used to and he is enjoying the company again. He has been good with other dogs he has met and he has good house manners. Housetrained and crate-trained, Paddy signals when he needs to go out and is trustworthy in the house having free rein inside when his foster parents are gone. He seldom barks and he does not chew inappropriately. Although there are no children in his foster home, Paddy had previously lived with a ten-year-old in his original family.
As a puppy, Paddy had been professionally trained and he still knows and responds to the commands “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “paw.” He walks well on leash after some initial pulling and he can be trusted off leash. Paddy enjoys car rides and is a good, quiet passenger. At the groomer, he is a good boy although he is not crazy about having his nails clipped. He pulls his paws away but does not snap. Paddy also has to have his ears cleaned twice a week to prevent ear infections from getting started.
Don’t think that being eleven slows Paddy down because it doesn’t. He still loves his walks and going on car rides. He is delighted to have someone throw the ball for him as he loves balls and playing fetch. In the summer, Paddy is quite the little fish swimming in the pool, too.
