Update 11/13/07: Ozzie was adopted by his foster family.
Original: Ozzie was relinquished to MAESSR through no fault of his own. His owner was working long hours and felt it was not fair to Ozzie to be alone so much of the day.
Ozzie is a handsome bench bred boy with champion lines. He is very attached to people and would prefer 24-hour company. This lovable boy is happiest when snuggled next to you.
Ozzie knows “sit,” “come,” “stay,” and “shake.” He and the resident dogs go out and play and then come in and sit for their treats. However, Ozzie does not like to wait his turn and thinks he should get all the treats being given out. This may account for his rotund figure. His foster mom is working on good food, portion control, and more exercise for him. Ozzie rides well in the car. He also was great at the groomers and the vet’s office standing very still while they drew blood. He is a relatively healthy 11-year-old. He has been drinking a great deal of water which makes it necessary to have more access to the outside.
Ozzie sleeps in the crate but when the door is left open, he sneaks on the foot of the bed once his foster mom has fallen asleep. Ozzie is not given free run of the house when left alone. Instead, he is confined in a smaller area, which seems to work for him and his foster mom. He is rather fixated on the other dogs in the house and does not leave them alone. For that reason, he may do better as an only dog. Ozzie would be great company for a retired person looking for someone to walk with or go for rides in the car. Having his belly rubbed is something he loves, too!
This is one sweet senior dog who has much love and affection left to give. Can you find room in your home and heart for this sweet guy?
