Not too much is known about Olivia before she came to be part of the MAESSR family, but it is known that she was living with a loving Pennsylvania family who sadly had to part with her due to her owner’s health issues.
Olivia is a fabulous lady who epitomizes the English Springer Spaniel to a tee! She loves to be with “her” people and follow their every move. She is settling into her new foster home well and enjoys playing with the other three dogs and all the children that constantly run around the house. Although she can be a little nervous at first, especially of men, when kindness and gentleness is shown she cannot help wagging her tail at supersonic speed!
Fully housetrained, Olivia learned to use the dog door in the first five minutes – what an intelligent lady she is! If unable to use a dog door, she will circle around her person to show she needs to go outside. Her limited eyesight appears to cause her little disability whatsoever and she quite happily was finding her way around the foster home and up and down stairs within the first two days. Occasionally she will “bump” her nose into an object, but it really doesn’t seem to bother her and she just continues on.
Olivia can be crated but does care for it much. Should she need to be in a crate, she is not disruptive but she will “chatter” and let it be known that she is relatively displeased and would rather be curled up at your feet or, better still, on the sofa with you!
This beautiful girl knows “sit,” “stay,” and “down.” She makes no attempt to get into trash cans or counter-surf. She is gentle at feeding time, only eating when she is hungry, and has no guarding issues over food or toys. A lover of taking walks, Olivia does not pull on the leash whatsoever and is very friendly, if a little timid, when she meets other dogs. This good girl rides well in the car, although she does have a preference for sitting in the front passenger seat with her head out of the window! She loves being groomed and will lie at your side just as long as you will keep on brushing her gently.
Olivia loves life and loves her “people!” She will make some family a lovely companion. A house with fewer stairs would suit Olivia best and, even though she does well when left on her own, she has indicated that having one of her “people” around during the day would certainly be on her wish list!
Olivia is an incredible lady who deserves love, friendship, and lots of tummy scratches!
