Original: “He will do whatever his people are doing and love it–going for walks, riding in the car or just lying around.”
Oliver came to MAESSR when his single Maryland owner was not able to give him the attention he needed while running her business from the house. This handsome boy is the typical Velcro Springer and must be wherever his people are at any given time.
When first arriving in his present foster home, the new guy attempted to play with the resident male, who unfortunately didn’t know how to do that and thought Oliver was nuts. Heartbroken, O. settled for seeking comfort from a boarding female in the home. All was well.
Oliver is fully housetrained and will go to the door when he wants out; his foster home has a doggie door which he has no problem using. He loves to go for walks and gets very excited when he sees a leash come out. He will pull at first but quickly settles down. This boy has never been crate trained and becomes very anxious when he is put in one although he did just fine at the vet’s office where he was groomed and stayed all day after his vetting. He has free run of the house and at night he sleeps on a doggie bed in the bedroom with his foster mom.
His house manners are great; he would love to hop on the sofa, but stays down when he is told and will just lie at his person’s feet. Oliver has shown no inappropriate behavior in his foster home and recently has started to play with a blue stuffed bunny. He will also rest his head on Blue Bunny when napping.
“Please, sir, may I have some more?” Oliver figured out where his bowl was in the kitchen and the pecking order for being fed in just a couple of days. He is a pretty smart fellow and wants nothing more than to please. No problems at all have occurred with guarding, and he gets along just fine with the other dogs in the home. He thought about counter-surfing once, but quickly gave that up after being fussed at by his foster mom.
Oliver knows “sit,” “come,” “stay,” “down” and even does a few tricks–“give paw,” “high five” and “roll over” (the roll over is a little hard for him at this time as he is quite overweight).
Oliver is a fairly laid back boy and would get along just about anywhere. He will do whatever his people are doing and love it–going for walks, riding in the car or just lying around. He is very easy to please as long as he is just loved. Wouldn’t you love to love this love in your home? The seasons are about to change, and Oliver would love to share the fall with you.
