Original: “Noah’s dream home would have a family where someone was home most of the time, another dog he could romp and play with, and a fenced in yard where he could run and play with no restrictions.”
Living with an active young Springer in an apartment became too much for Noah’s Virginia owner. When she was at work, Noah became quite vocal and neighbors began to complain. His owner realized that Noah needed a home with a yard and new owners who would be around more for him than she was able to be. So, she contacted MAESSR and Noah began a new life.
Noah is housetrained and goes to the back door when he wants to go out. He had only been crated at night in his previous home so his foster mom is training him to use the crate as a place of comfort and security. This will help him with his anxiety when he is alone. A snuggle bunny, Noah sleeps in bed right next to his foster mom with his head on her pillow.
Noah’s house manners need some polishing. His foster mom is teaching him the new rules of his foster home which include no counter-surfing, no going through the trash, and no jumping up and taking food out of foster mom’s mouth! Oops! This wild child will soon learn the proper ways for a good Springer boy to act. He is catching on quickly. Already, when relaxing in the family room, Noah is very well behaved and cuddles up on the couch with the resident dogs and/or his foster mom. Good boy!
The previous owner said that Noah is good with elementary school aged children but may accidentally knock down younger ones since he likes to jump up. He has not met any children while he has been in foster care. Although Noah gets along well with the three resident Springers, he can be possessive of his food and toys. Noah is good with the resident cats who are generally indifferent to him. He would like them to interact with him, so sometimes he barks and jumps around if they ignore him. If they run, however, Noah will chase them.
Noah will need additional obedience training since he is inconsistent responding to the two commands he knows– “sit” and “come.” Right now he has selective hearing. MAESSR will require Noah’s new owners to take him to two series of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. Their commitment to training Noah will be a wonderful investment in making him become a happy, well-adjusted dog and a wonderful family member. Noah already loves going for walks and is trying to learn not to pull. His foster mom says he is eager to meet people and new dogs as they pass and is well behaved in the car.
Noah’s dream home would have a family where someone was home most of the time, another dog he could romp and play with, and a fenced in yard where he could run and play with no restrictions. If this describes you, inquire about Noah!
