Updated 12/12/06: Little Noah was just a baby when he came into MAESSR’s care the first time and, in a lot of ways, he is now at the “toddler” stage. He is a real bundle of energy and was just a bit more than his adopting family could manage. They knew he was a great dog but felt he would be happier in a home where he got more attention.
Noah has a good appetite and is in overall good health. As can happen when one makes a major move though, Noah’s tummy got all out of whack. The first few days in his foster home were rocky but he is showing improvement. He had been successful with housetraining in his original home. He is also crate trained, so Noah is currently using a crate when left alone, at least until his system settles into regularity again.
There are both dogs and cats in Noah’s foster home. His initial approach was to chase and bark for play. After 2 days of his well-intended but insensitive approach, the resident dogs stood up to Noah and he is now getting lessons on doggy manners from them. He is calming down some with the cats too but still does like to chase them when they don’t want to play.
At times Noah seems to have forgotten all of his obedience lessons. He will jump on people when greeting them and counter-surf. He also is quite accomplished at jumping on furniture and beds, so his foster parents are working with him on “down.” Noah still loves to chew too. Soft toys and paper are his favorite items although he has mistaken slippers as fair game. Fortunately, he is fine with letting folks remove things from his mouth. Not surprisingly Noah is quite the wiggle butt when it comes to grooming. When his foster mom tried brushing and trimming some mats for him, he did not growl or snap but just could not stand still– more of that youthful energy coming out!!
Noah rides well whenever the car goes but does like to visit the front seat, so he needs to be restrained for everyone’s safety. He walks well on a short leash and enjoys being out with his people.
Noah’s heart is as big as the huge amount of energy he needs to unload daily. He loves to give kisses. He needs love in return, discipline and a family who will help him grow into adulthood. A refresher obedience class, a fenced yard or nearby dog park, a playful resident canine for companionship, perhaps a job such as beginning agility– all could be bonuses for Noah. And in the right hands, Noah will prove himself to be quite worth the time spent with him.
Original: Siblings to Boston, Beau and Bobby, this litter of puppies came into rescue shortly after the older three. The shelter staff that pulled the first three, found out that this young litter was living outside. The breeder surrendered these puppies as well. Now, Leila, Maya, Paloma, Orry, and Noah are all MAESSR puppies. We will check their health and get them altered. They are happy, healthy puppies and need to be in their forever homes.
With just a bit of time in his foster home, Noah has won over his foster parents and impressed them as being a real cutie! He is all puppy, has tons of energy, and is a bit skittish at new things. He does great with the resident cats and the resident springer in the home. His housetraining is underway and going surprisingly well. Noah also has a wonderful start on his crate training with only minimal whining during the night. Of course, he loves to chew, but what puppy doesn’t?
If you’ve been wanting to start a puppy, stock up on toys, treats, and training tips, and give your time and heart to Noah’s new beginning!!
