Although there is nothing cuter than a Springer puppy, sometimes new owners are not aware of the tremendous energy requirements of these adorable pups. This is what Nestle’s Pennsylvania owner experienced and so this puppy was relinquished to MAESSR, knowing we could find him a home that could meet his high energy needs.
Nestle is housebroken as well as being crate-trained. He barks when he is first crated, but then settles down. When his foster family is not home, he is crated. At night he sleeps quietly in the living room and doesn’t stir until morning. Overall, Nestle’s house manners are good for a ten month old puppy. He does not get on the furniture too much and he is learning to get off when told. He does counter-surf a little, but his foster parents are working with him on this vice. Nestle loves to ride in cars, and he a good passenger who knows the command “sit.” He likes to go on walks, but he is so full of energy that he pulls on the leash. Leash training is a work in progress for Nestle.
Please note that MAESSR only place puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under one year old to enroll their puppy in an obedience class within 60 days of adoption.
This bundle of energy loves to play with toys; he also likes to rip them apart! Playing ball is another one of Nestle’s favorite activities. When quiet time comes, though, he loves being petted. He is not keen on being brushed, however; that makes him nervous.
Nestle will do well in an active home that has a lot of time to devote to this active pup. A canine friend who likes to play would be a plus for Nestle in his new home. His forever family will find that Nestle’s energy level is matched or even surpassed by his capacity to love! He is truly a sweet boy with lots of potential.
