Nelli came into MAESSR’s care when a breeder in the Baltimore area decided he did not want her anymore. Nelli’s only health problem is that she has Lyme disease. There was no doubt when the vet did her blood work, so she is currently on a 21-day course of doxycyline and is expected to make a full recovery.
There are four dogs in Nelli’s foster home and she is very good with all of them. She loves all the people she encounters but has a problem with submissive urination if she thinks she is in trouble. With time and gentle guidance from her foster family, this behavior will likely disappear. She is also a Velcro dog in that she loves to be petted and will cuddle with those around her. She likes to be petted and lays her head in a lap to get things started. Then, before you know it, her back legs are on the couch! She is so cute when she does this. Nelli is crate trained and goes in willingly. She also walks well on a leash and is good when riding in a car.
Nelli went on a camping trip with her family. She did great with all the people she met, clinging to them for attention. She was quite the lover and every person who encountered Nelli loved her. Two boys at the next campsite, both over 10 years, came over to love on her and she did fine with them. And as she encountered smaller children, she did well too. She even tolerated a yippy, yappy dachshund! Lucky will be the family who adopts this young gal. Hopefully she will enjoy a lifetime of camping with them as well!!
